Starships
Spring 21

Starships was inspired by one of the franchises I heavily consumed during quarantine this past year – which was Star Wars. The concept grew to be focused purely on stars and galaxies, especially the amazing photos we’ve gotten from space telescopes like the Hubble. Even as ethereal these photos are, they’re made even more impressive when considering the science behind understanding how space functions. There are two equations that couldn’t be more different in the scale they represent but are effectively the same. The two equations are Coulomb’s Law and Newton’s Universal Gravitation. Compared to the expansiveness of space, humanity is just some of the atoms making it up. This led me to include both high tech fabrics (such as fiber optic fabrics) and fabrics more directly touched by human hands (such as upcycled, hand-dyeing, etc).
